The retention assessment

A clear path from your first note to a written reading of subscription activity — used for our flagship audit and adapted for shorter reviews.

What the assessment covers

We examine how people subscribe, renew, pause, and leave inside one product. The assessment is the working method behind our Subscription Retention Audit; lighter consultations borrow the early steps only.

  1. Discovery

We clarify billing cadence, trial rules, and the retention definition you currently report. No slides required — a working call and a short checklist.

  2. Activity intake

You share exports or warehouse extracts for subscription events. We confirm which fields can support cohort survival and cancel timing.

  3. Working sessions

Two collaborative sessions to walk anomalies: sudden cancel clusters, plan-mix effects, pause behavior, and trial converters who never reach second renewal.

  4. Findings memo

A written reading with prioritized measurement questions. We walk it with your team so the memo does not sit unread.

Team discussing retention notes at a table

What you prepare

  • Current retention chart or board metric definition
  • List of plans and trial lengths
  • Known anomalies (refunds, migrations, regional pricing)
  • A named contact who can answer billing-event questions

If extracts are not ready, we can still run a narrower metric health check from definitions and screenshots.
